A Message from President Charles Hirschhorn on His First Day

Dear Extended Otis Community,

I am honored and look forward to working with you as the new President of Otis College of Art and Design. Please watch my welcome message, in which I share a message for different parts of our community.

One of the things about Otis that inspires me is the deep sense of community I have witnessed over these past two months and earlier, as I was talking to the community about becoming your next President. Those conversations have continued, and I look forward to speaking with many more of you in the coming months.

One of my priorities is for Otis to be a model of commitment to social justice, equity, and diversity among our students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Later today I will be sharing a statement with the Otis Community about the recent unrest in our city and country, and how I see our role in addressing these critical issues at Otis, starting with a recommitment to our shared and implicit values on diversity, equity, and inclusion among everyone in our community.

I know I am new to the community and I have much to learn from you about Otis. I want you to help me build a future that is bright, one in which our students and alumni flourish.

Sincerely,

Charles Hirschhorn
President
