  • Immunization Requirements

    Required Immunizations:

    • Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire/Test
    • 2 MMR Vaccinations (1st shot received at the age of 1 year or older)
    • HOUSING STUDENTS: MCV4 (Meningitis)

    New Incoming Students with a medical exemption from any required vaccine must submit form by immunization deadline. 

    Recommended Immunizations:

    Starting June 1, 2023, the COVID-19 vaccination will be strongly recommended, rather than required, for students, faculty, and staff. Otis College continues to stress the importance of the COVID-19 vaccines and will continue to provide COVID-19 vaccine clinics throughout the school year. COVID-19 vaccines help protect people from getting seriously ill, being hospitalized, and dying. As with other vaccine-preventable diseases, you are best protected from COVID-19 when you stay up to date with the recommended vaccinations. LACDPH has aligned with the CDC recommending that “up to date” with the COVID vaccine means everyone aged 6 years and older receive one (1) updated Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 bivalent vaccine, regardless of whether you have received any of the original COVID-19 vaccines.

    All forms must be submitted via OwlCare Student Health Portal - otiscollege.studenthealthportal.com. Forms cannot be submitted before May 1st. 

    PLEASE NOTE: Registered incoming students who will begin classes in August 2024 are eligible to begin use of the SHWC on July 1st, 2024. All services for incoming students must be paid via cash, credit/debit, or FSA/HSA card.  Please keep in mind that students who are enrolled in the Student Health insurance will gain access to their health insurance benefits starting August 15th, 2024. 

    Immunization Costs:
    TB Testing: $20 (PPD Skin Test)
    TB Blood Test: $50 (Quantiferon Gold)
    Meningitis Vaccine $170
    MMR Vaccine: $95 per vaccine
    MMR titers: $25

    *Any immunizations received at the SHWC after the deadline are subject to a $20 late immunization fee after July 1st, 2024 and increases to a $100 late immunization fee if submitted after August 1st, 2024. 

    Please upload all required documents to your Owl Care Portal starting May 1st, 2024. Forms will not be accepted before May 1st, 2024.

  • Insurance Information

    All degree-seeking students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. Otis College's insurance plan is administered through Anthem. It is a full service plan that utilizes the Anthem PPO Network. You are able to find insurance information regarding cost, benefits, claims, and more at: https://otis.myahpcare.com.

    Student Health Insurance, Notable Plan Benefits:

    • Full-Service nationwide Anthem PPO plan
    • All services received in SHWC are at no additional cost. No Co-pays!
    • On-site Physician & Nurse Practitioner
    • 15 free off-campus mental health visits
    • Student Health and Wellness Center provides benefit and claims assistance, referrals and coordination of care

     

    Students with active health insurance that meets the college's waiver requirements are eligible to waive. BFA/MFA Waiver submissions must be completed by the August 1st, 2024 deadline date. MFA GD waiver submissions must be completed by the June 1st, 2024 deadline date.  All waiver instructions are emailed to student's Otis College email account weekly beginning in May 2024. If you intend to remain enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan, no additional action is required.

  • Deadline Dates - Fall 2024

    May 1st, 2024:
    Newly Admitted Students can start uploading their immunization requirements to OwlCare Health Portal. Also for newly admitted and continuing students (both BFA/MFA & MFA GD students): Insurance Waiver Period Begins.

    June 1st, 2024:
    Newly Admitted MFA GD Insurance Waiver Submission Period Ends
    Newly Admitted MFA GD immunization requirement & New Student Health Form Submission Deadline

    July 1st, 2024:
    All New Incoming BFA/MFA Students - Immunization & New Student Health FormSubmission Deadline

    August 1st, 2024
    Newly Admitted BFA/MFA Insurance Waiver Submission Period Ends
