LOS ANGELES, CA - (May 7, 2016) – Tonight Otis College of Art and Design honored the new vanguards of California luxury at its annual art and design awards. Jenni Kayne, creator of the soulful lifestyle brand, accepted the 2016 Style Icon Award and VP of Design, Rachel Wilder-Hill accepted the 2016 Design Innovation Award on behalf of contemporary comfortable-luxury brand Joie at the black-tie gala, held at the Beverly Hilton.

Rosemary Brantley, founding chair of Otis’ Fashion Design program, was paid a special tribute for her outstanding leadership in building the curriculum and the Benefit show to provide her students with direct access to top designers in the industry. Former students spoke to the over 750 guests in attendance of her tireless commitment to their education. Otis’ Fashion Design program was recently ranked the number one fashion program in the nation by College Magazine and has received many accolades for their alumni’s industry success. Otis College itself was recently ranked 6th in the nation by The Economist for its added value to a student’s potential income.

The runway presentation of over 120 original student designs is L.A.’s largest annual fashion show. This year, juniors and seniors worked with Todd Oldham for Metro Los Angeles, Bob Mackie, and top designers from such brands as Uniqlo, Prairie Underground, Joie, Nanette Lepore, Lucky Brand, Amuse Society, Blu Pony Vintage, Michi, Perry Ellis, and J Brand. Under these professional mentors, students work through the entire design process - researching, sketching, fabric draping, pattern drafting, fabrication to construction of the final garment. This year’s design process can be seen on the Otis Fashion Design blog. Select designs will also be displayed in the windows of Neiman Marcus, Beverly Hills, CA.

The 2016 Benefit event co-chairs were MGM Studios executive Shelley Reid and Cathy Louchheim of Beverly Hills, and the event’s exclusive media partner was Angeleno Magazine. Additional information available at or by calling (310) 665-6858.
