Students from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts visited Otis College of Art and Design for a four-day immersive program, exploring different areas of study and visiting several of Los Angeles' cultural institutions. This unique program was organized by Inez Bush, Associate Director of Pre-College Programs and Professional Development for Teachers.
The program offered the students a chance to complete projects in several different disciplines including letterpress, sketching, and photography. The students also visited Otis' Fashion department and completed a concept exercise with Toy Design's Deborah Ryan and Markus Maciel. Outside of the classroom, students were able to tour the Museum of Natural History, Disney Concert Hall, Broad Museum, and the Getty Center.
To complete their journey, the students created and bound a book of their experiences in a workshop with Communications Arts faculty Rebecca Chamlee. Students were presented with Certificates and heard from Otis President Bruce W. Ferguson, Provost Randy Lavender, and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Matthew Gallagher.
