Alumnus Bruce Yonemoto

Media artist Bruce Yonemoto ('79, MFA) has collaborated with his brother Norman on film, video, and multimedia installations since 1978. The Yonemotos’ work is based on notions of difference and visibility, and much of their work appropriates commercial film and television imagery.

Marshall ('78), born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1955, lives and works in Chicago. He received an honorary degree from Otis in 1999. In 1997 he was awarded a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation grant.

Alumnus Roberto Gil de Montes

Roberto Gil de Montes ('72, MFA Fine Arts '76), born in Guadalajara, Mexico, came to the United States in 1965. He received his MFA from Otis, and works in painting, photography, sculpture and ceramics.

Alumna Suzanne Caporael

Suzanne Caporael ('77, MFA Fine Arts '79) began her career with exhibitions at the Newport Harbor Art Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Alumnus Carlos Almaraz

Carlos Almaraz ('74, MFA Fine Arts), born in Mexico City in 1941, grew up in Chicago and Los Angeles. Considered one of the preeminent members of L.A.’s Chicano School during the 1970s and ‘80s, Almaraz helped bring Chicano street art into mainstream art circles.
