Soo Kim

Professor Soo Kim on Being a Photographer

Soo Kim
Professor; Program Director, Photography
 
Born in South Korea, Kim moved to L.A. in 1980, and received her MFA from Cal Arts and BA from UC Riverside. Her art has been exhibited at the Getty Museum, LACMA, Whitney Museum, Gwangju Biennale, Korea; and the Royal Danish Academy of Art, Copenhagen.
 

Fine Arts lecture by Tomory Dodge

Tomory is a L.A. based artist whose BFA is from Rhode Island School of Design and MFA from CalArts. His work has been shown at ACME in L.A., Alison Jacques Gallery in London, CRG Gallery in N.Y., Knoxville Museum of Art, Torrance Art Museum, Monica De Cardenas Gallery in Switzerland, and Taxter and Spengemann Gallery in N.Y.  Tomory’s work is in permanent collections at LACMA, OCMA, MoCA, and The Whitney Museum of American Art in N.Y., Yale University Art Gallery, and more.

Fine Arts lecture Eric Yahnker

Fine Arts presents Eric Yahnker, whose work focuses on large-scale projects that create heroically-scaled installations, most often anchored by wall-sized, photorealistic drawings in charcoal, graphite, and colored pencils. He received his BFA from USC in Journalism and MFA from CalArts.  His work has been included in many publications such as Artforum, Juxtapoz Magazine, Los Angeles Times Review, and the New York Times Review. Gallery exhibitions include L.A.

Fine Arts presents visiting artist Mitchell Syrop, who has shown his work widely at WPA Gallery, Rosamund Felson Gallery, Richard Telles Fine Art, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Galeria Oliva Arauna in Spain, Lieberman & Saul Gallery and MoMA in N.Y., and the Getty Museum in L.A. He earned his BFA at Pratt Institute and MFA at CalArts. His work has been featured in publications including Artforum, New York Times, Saatchi Online, Art US, and Los Angeles Times.

Fine Arts lecture Maha Saab

Fine Arts presents visiting artist Maha Saab, born in 1979 and currently lives/works in Los Angeles.  She graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA, and received her MFA from UCLA in 2007.  Maha has been featured in various shows at Pepin Moore Gallery, Barbara Gladstone Gallery, LAXART, Richard Telles Fine Art, Michael Kohn Gallery, LTD Los Angeles, Carmichael Gallery in Los Angeles, The Third Line Gallery in Dubai, and more.  She works in various mediums such as painting, photography, sculpture, and collage.  Her work has also been featured in the New Yorker Magazine and on Artfo

Fine Arts lecture Julien Ceccaldi

Fine Arts presents visiting artist Julien Ceccaldi, French Canadian artist from Montreal. Born in Canada in 1987, he currently works with many mediums like drawing, painting, and installations.  He completed his BFA at Concordia University in 2009, and since then has shown his work around the world, including Mathew Gallery in Berlin, Bodega Gallery in Philadelphia, FOFA Gallery in Montreal, and Redbird Gallery in Montreal.  He also produces unique pieces painting on garments and accessories which are hand-painted and presented as works of mass production.
