TRIP OVERVIEW

The travel study program is a course within the Integrated Learning Department of Otis, and will partner with a group called What is A?, a design collective engaged in arts education for children and youth in Barcelona, Spain. What is A? is committed to the values and methodologies of the Reggio approach to child education, a philosophy originating in the Reggio-Emilia Region of Italy which believes that each child has many languages to express themselves and that projects grow from the unique interests of the individual child. The association is composed of artists, teachers and educators from various disciplines and their work is funded by memberships fees and income related to each individual project. In 2010 What is A? worked with a group of children and artists in the production of Construccions D’Ombras, an installation exploring shade and shadows, which was made in collaboration with school-age youth and students of architecture.
