Your Creative Future

An Otis College education is an investment that has led many of our alumni to a variety of exciting careers in art, entertainment, and design. Some have gone on to work at such companies as Apple, Netflix, SpaceX, Nike, Mattel, Cartoon Network, Ralph Lauren, MGA Entertainment, and Disney/Pixar, to name just a few. They are Oscar winners, world-renowned fashion designers, entrepreneurs, Fulbright, MacArthur, and Guggenheim award recipients, and leaders of contemporary art movements.

At Otis College, you will study, intern, and may ultimately work in Los Angeles, the creative capital of the 21st century.

According to the 2020 Otis Report on the Creative Economy, over 15% of all jobs in California are in the creative industries, which span Architecture, Creative Goods and Products, Entertainment and Digital Media, Fashion, and Fine and Performing Arts. These jobs generate over $650 billion in annual output. Los Angeles County alone accounts for over 797,000 jobs in the creative industries, where the average annual wage is $103,000 (compared to $68,500, the average annual wage in California).

Your Creative Future is a career preparation initiative at the core of an Otis College education. Students learn practical, professional, and business skills that empower them to successfully move from college studies into thriving professional careers. Professional preparation courses can be found in every major. What’s more, Entrepreneurship is the newest and most popular minor offered at Otis. The Career Services office prepares students for internships and employment in professions that sustain and support their creativity. In doing so, Career Services has reported a 93.5% employment rate for the class of 2019 (the most recent year for which it has data). More than one-third of the class of 2019 was employed before graduation, and more than one-third was employed within three months of graduation.
