MFA Fine Arts Mid-Residency Exhibition on View January 18–27, 2024
The MFA Fine Arts program at Otis College of Art and Design will present its first-year mid-residency show, nobody’s everything, January 18–27, 2024, in the Bolsky Gallery on campus. The annual mid-residency exhibition showcases and introduces the work of first-year graduate students to the Otis Community, greater Los Angeles, and beyond. This collection of work, made during the Fall 2023 semester, spans a range of media and concerns and is a testament to the vibrant art making cohort making their debuts. An opening reception will be held Thursday, January 18, 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the gallery.
Bolsky Gallery is located on the campus of Otis College of Art and Design, 9045 Lincoln Boulevard, in Los Angeles. Admission to the exhibition and opening reception is free.

Following the mid-residency show, Otis College’s second-year MFA Fine Arts candidates will exhibit their thesis shows from February through May in the Bolsky Gallery. New shows are installed throughout the Spring semester, and students are available to discuss their work during in-person receptions held during their respective exhibitions. After each presentation, the exhibitions will be available for online viewing in virtual galleries.
MFA Fine Arts students will have another opportunity to share their work at the end
of the academic year during O-Launch, a campus-wide exhibition of student work across
the school’s eight programs. While student work is displayed throughout campus and
in the galleries, Fine Arts grad students open up their individual work spaces to
the public during the concurrent MFA Open Studios. In an interview with Hyperallergic during last year’s Open Studios, one student praised the program and how it had benefited
their practice: “I felt a lot of freedom to create and to experiment,” said multimedia
artist Suwichada Busamrong-Press.
