Pattern Drafting I (Online)

What’s the fastest and most commonly used method of patternmaking today? Flat-pattern drafting with slopers, the basis of all patterns. Students in this online course begin with seamless blocks, draft the pattern on dotted paper, and then add seam allowances, including an appropriate pattern card. Assignments include sewing the finished pattern in muslin, checking the fit on the dress form or model, and making corrections to the pattern. Mirroring industry techniques, students develop skills expected of a designer and/or a first-pattern patternmaker. Access to a digital camera or smartphone is necessary for submitting homework assignments.
