Biography

As of July 2023, Barb Cimity opened her own production company, Lady Face Pictures, LLC, to develop her own intellectual property. The company focuses on projects that are character-driven, inspiring, empowering, and entertaining.

Barb has an extensive background in animation production, with experience in producing animated features, television shows, and short forms in 2D, 3D, and stop motion. She has held various roles throughout her career in both large and small studio settings.

She began her career in animation producing commercials for the renowned animator Richard Williams at his LA studio. Following this, she opened her own production company, CimityArt, which produced shorts and commercials.

When pursued by DreamWorks SKG, Barb closed her company and became one of the first 300 employees at DreamWorks Feature Animation. She intended to stay for one movie but ended up working there for 16 years.

In the last decade, Barb has focused on animation for television. She worked at Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, a stop-motion house, as a producer on the Emmy Award-winning show "Robot Chicken" and many other projects.

In 2018, Barb became Head of Production for Six Point Harness, which produces a wide array of 2D animated projects. These include the Oscar-winning short "Hair Love," the beloved series "Cosmos," and the HBO comedy special "Tig Drawn," a fully animated comedy special based on Tig Notaro’s stand-up work. Most recently, the studio produced the re-imagined series "Good Times" for Netflix, among many other 2D projects.

Barb holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in business. She is a former board member and current member of Women in Animation, a member of the Animation Division of The Television Academy, and a long-standing member of ASIFA.

A native Californian, Barb is the mother of two sons and grandmother to four grandchildren, aged 18, nine, three, and two months. Besides her family, she loves artists, Labradors, and enjoys an occasional good glass of wine.
