Communication Arts presents a lecture by visiting artist Kevin Bradley of Church of Type.
Fine Arts presents Hannah Whitaker, a photographer who received her BA from Yale University and MFA from Bard College. She has been featured in numerous shows at Galerie Christophe Gaillard in Paris, Thierry Goldberg Gallery in New York City, Y Gallery in Queens, and Kumukumu Gallery in New York City.

Scholarship deadline is Monday, April 21, 2014.
Summer of Art scholarships are available to students who, for financial reasons, would not otherwise be able to attend. Awards are based on family financial information, portfolio, and grade point average. Due to limited funding, scholarships are only available for U.S. citizens. Unless otherwise stated, awards can be used toward tuition only and cannot be applied toward supplies or other expenses.
In addition to financial need, limited number of merit-based scholarships may be available. If you are applying for a merit-based scholarship, please follow the Scholarship Required Documents and Materials and Portfolio submission instructions.A complete scholarship application must include all required items (see below), and be received by April 21. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants will be notified of the results as soon as award decisions have been made.Do I need to submit a $200 deposit if I'm applying for a scholarship?
If your attendance is contingent upon receiving a scholarship award, you are not required to submit the $200 deposit. If you plan to attend the program regardless of whether a scholarship is granted, please submit the $200 deposit to ensure a place in the program. Please note that this fee is non-refundable.
Required Documents and Materials
- Registration and Scholarship Forms
- A copy of your family's 2013 1040 Tax Form
- A 10 piece portfolio (see instructions below)
- Official high school and/or college transcripts
Portfolio Instructions Send only ten pieces of artwork, including:
(5) Observational Drawings
Still life, landscape, figure drawing, or self-portraits that have been created by looking at the actual objects, not using a photograph as a reference or traced
(5) Pieces of Applicant’s Choice
Any medium including but not limited to: drawings, illustration, painting, photography, 2D design, sculpture, 3D design, and time-based projects. Work must have been completed within the last two years.
Please submit your portfolio on CD, DVD, flash drive, or electronically. No original artwork will be accepted. Emailed submissions have a maximum file size of 20MB. Larger portfolios should be submitted via the file transfer services at www.wetransfer.com. Be sure to send to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name and contact information in the message section provided. If you use a file transfer service, we recommend sending a follow up email to email@example.com with your contact information so that we can track your submission.
How do I get my portfolio back? Include a self-addressed stamped envelope to have your portfolio returned. If you are in the Los Angeles area, please retrieve your portfolio within 30 days of decision notification or it will be disposed of.
