Bio/Affiliation: 

Frankie Hamersma is a Los Angeles-based designer, creative director, educator and animal lover. She currently serves as graphic designer for Active Cultures and part-time professor at Otis College of Art and Design. 

Prior to teaching at Otis College Art and Design, she was an integral part of LAD Design from 2016 to 2019, serving as the associate producer for Grammy award winning Voyager Golden Record 40th Anniversary Edition Boxset. During her career, she has developed visual identity systems, album packaging and book/magazine design for a variety of musicians, educational and cultural institutions. Frankie received her BFA and Masters in Graphic Design from Otis College of Art and Design, graduating with honors and as Class Marshal.  

While at Otis, she studied abroad in Holland and Belgium, and also completed a summer intensive with ArtEZ’s Academy of Art and Design in Mexico City.  

 

Awards/Honors: 

Associate producer of Voyager Golden Record 40th Anniversary Boxset, winner of 2018 Grammy for Best Boxed or Limited Edition Package.

While at Active Cultures, I have collaborated with artists such as Laura Fried, Bianca Morán, Anna Cho-Son, Glen Kaino, Shana Lutker and Ray Anthony Barrett to name a few.
