Bio and Affiliation

Yaron Michael Hakim (b. Bogotá, Colombia) lives and works in Los Angeles. Working across media, Hakim’s practice reflects upon displacement, inheritance, adaptation, and identification. Hakim received an MFA from the University of California, Irvine and a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. His artist book, Yaron Michael Hakim: Psittaciformes was published with Grand Central Art Center and X Artists’ Books (September, 2023). Recent exhibitions include “Fictions of Display” at MOCA, Los Angeles (2025-26); “Antecedents” at Sargents Daughters, New York (2026), “Signal Fires” at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Los Angeles (2024), to name a few. His work is in the permanent collections of MOCA Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Pérez Art Museum, Miami, among others.
