Team International Student Outreach

Team International Student Outreach (TISOs) are a select group of Otis College students, international and non-international, undergraduate and graduate, who serve as student leaders. The role of a TISO is multi-faceted. TISOs serve as cross-cultural group leaders during International Student Orientation, and continue to support new international students throughout the academic year. TISOs represent Otis College by developing, and participating in international programming, and hosting international visitors on campus.

Laura Salazar

  • Pronouns: She / Her
  • Status: Sophomore
  • Major: Communication Arts/Graphic Design
  • Student Email: lsalazar@student.otis.edu
  • Personal Email: lauraalejandrasalazar27@gmail.com

Hi! I’m Laura and I like to bake, dance, and talk to people. Also, I love puns. I consider myself to be a pretty outgoing person, and I think it’s because I had to move around a lot as a child. I love a good book (The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is probably my favorite), so any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
My advice to incoming students is to make connections! Know your professors. Don’t be afraid to talk to people. Get to know your peers, you might be working with them in the future.

Ami Kurosawa

Hello! I am from Henderson, Nevada, and I am Japanese American. Although I am shy, I love meeting people and making friends! By being a student leader, I hope to help and get to know you as you experience your first year at Otis College!
My advice for new students would be to talk to peers and teachers! By communicating and making lots of friends, it will help you and give you a fun college experience!

Mi Coz

  • Pronouns: She / Her
  • Status: Junior
  • Major: Digital Media
  • Student Email: mcoz@student.otis.edu
  • Personal Email: cozmadeleine@gmail.com

I am a very optimistic, detail-orientated, and open person that enjoys supporting & helping others. I really like to contribute & be part of a community, along with supporting others to feel welcome & comfortable, too! Also if you ever want baking recipes or to know about good places to eat, I'm the one to talk to.
My advice for new students is to reach out to other students – in your year and upperclassmen; in fact, get to know the faculty, too! It's very helpful and comforting to build connections & community among the people you see practically every day of the school year!

Yessica Kim

  • Student Email: ckim1@student.otis.edu
  • Personal Email: kcycy97@gmail.com

Hi! I'm Yessica. I have lived in various countries such as South Korea, China, Philippines, Canada and the States.
Based on the experiences from all countries I lived in, I want to be supportive and obliging to you in many ways on campus! Art schools are not easy going, so I would highly recommend not to procrastinate! If you do not cram assignments, Otis will not be a pusher. Furthermore, you have a great extent of opportunities to meet new amazing friends at Otis events! My advice for new students is to always keep updated on what exhilarating and inspiring events are happening on campus!
