I'm a doer. I came to Otis to learn as much as possible, even beyond my "digital" major. I'm actively engaging in game design (analog and digital), creative writing, manufacturing/production, business entrepreneurship, digital modeling, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, artistic sustainability, leadership & more. I am a student leader because I see great potential in Otis as an institution, and its talented students. I would like to aid others to attain that potential.
I would advise to ask for stuff. Nothing will happen with you sitting idle. Want a specific class? Ask the department chair. Want to see something happen on campus? Ask Students' Union for it. Be active, and tailor your college experience to help reach your potential, then go beyond that.
I am one of the many smiling faces that you will find at Otis. I have been told I'm charming, friendly and empathetic and, as far as I'm concerned, it's all true. I love to make people laugh and I am always here to offer an ear or my aid in any way possible to my fellow student.
I chose to become a student leader after my foundation year because I saw a need for change on campus. After joining SU I discovered that issues ran deeper than what I personally encountered in the classroom. I became motivated to help students be heard and respected after learning the hardships and hopes of my peers.
My advice? If you see something that's wrong, and you feel the call to action inside of you, run towards it and seek to make that change. Whether you go it alone or ask for help, you can make a difference at this institution.
I am a driven person that has enthusiasm for life. I am passionate about many things; cartoons, comics, and being gay. As my peers can attest the list of things that I'm passionate for goes on and on. I believe that you need to fight for what you believe in and I want to change Otis along with my peers for the better.
My advice? Don't forget to take some time for yourself every so often. There is a balance to everything. If you work too much, you will work yourself into the ground. Putting your health at risk is not worth it.
I really want students to know that colleges, even ours, don't operate without us and that means we need to be involved at every level or we end up in a system that ultimately doesn't care about us.
My advice? Fight the power y'all. Your teachers and administrators may be adults but so are you and don't let them treat you as anything else. Stick together. You have the real power at this school. You just have to take it.
I chose to become a student leader because I wanted to help make proactive changes at Otis and connect with other students while doing so.
My advice: Use your time and resources to the fullest, but don’t forget to take time to decompress too! (Easier said than done, I know)
