Otis College of Art and Design engages in the evaluation of student work as a process for understanding and improving student learning. Through assessment, Otis College measures how effectively students develop as artists and designers when demonstrating competencies within their department of study, interdisciplinary coursework, and engagement in Creative Action and Liberal Arts and sciences.

Assessment plays an essential role in fostering a culture of accountability and ensuring high quality education. It provides valuable insights that empower our programs and the College to make evidence-based decisions for continuous improvement. As a result of our institutional and programmatic assessment efforts, we can gather meaningful data at critical stages throughout students’ academic journey to discover opportunities to enhance and ensure we deliver a comprehensive education. From refining curricula to enhancing instructional strategies, assessment drives innovation in teaching and learning.

We’ve developed our Institutional and Program Learning Outcomes to be reflective of the primary values of Otis College and the competencies our graduates will be equipped with upon graduation. The achievement of student learning outcomes is a key indicator of success in our goal of providing students with the knowledge, values, skills, and practices necessary for their personal and professional development.
