Twitchell ('77, MFA) , one of the most respected and recognized outdoor urban muralists in the world, Kent Twitchell has changed the visual landscape of Los Angeles with his large scale photorealist portraits. One of his largest commissions, a nine-story portrait of the L.A. Chamber Orchestra, towers over the Harbor Freeway in downtown L.A. A 35-foot high mural in Philadelphia depicts the basketball hero Julius Erving. Of note to Otis alumni is Six Artists, a mural painted in the 1970s at the Employment Development Dept. in Torrance which depicts his classmates Marta Chaffee Stang, Alonzo Davis, Paul Czirban, Oliver Nowlin, Eloy Torrez, and Wayanna Kato.
