Alumnx

The primary mission of Career Services is to provide support to students and alums through the stages of career exploration and success, personal and professional growth, and employment. 

As an alum of Otis, you have unlimited access to Career Services resources including career counseling sessions, the job and internship board, workshops, panel discussions, employer info sessions, comprehensive online resources and more. These resources support you in your job search, cover letter and resume writing, portfolio development, interviewing, artist professional practices, negotiating freelance contracts, applying for grants, residencies, and exhibitions, and more.

Otis Job Board

Alumni have unlimited access to Handshake, our online job board. To gain access to Handhake for the first time, follow the instructions below. 

  • Copy and paste this link into a new browser: https://otis.joinhandshake.com/login.
  • Click on “sign in with your email address" below the Otis SSO button.
  • Input the email address from which you received a Handshake invitation, or your personal email address if you did not receive an invitation.
  • Then, select “Or log in using your handshake credentials.”
  • Input the email address if you need to again. Then you will see a Welcome page.

Online Resources

Click the "Resources" tab in the menu to see links to essential guides including resumes, cover letters, and artists' resumes, as well as comprehensive resource guides and listings for jobseeking, freelancing, exhibitions, grants, residencies, portfolio and website development, and creatives in a range of communities and majors!

Programs and Events

To view and register for all our upcoming events, log into Handshake. There you will find the most up-to-date schedule of workshops and other events. You can also follow us on Instagram for reminders of upcoming events and other great opportunities!

Covid-19 Relief Resources

Alumni Relations has put together a comprehensive list of organizations offering relief and support resources for those impacted by Covid-19. Visit the Alumni Relations page for their list of Emergency Grants and Resources for Artists and Designers Affected by Covid-19. Contact Director of Alumni Relations, Hazel Mandujano, hmandujano@otis.edu, with any questions or to share information on other available grants and resources that may be of interest to our alumni community. 

CUE Art Foundation has also compiled a list of Covid-19 Artist Resources that may useful to you as well. 

OPT for International Students

  • International students have the opportunity to apply for a visa extension after graduation. Contact the One Stop for more information on when and how to apply, and how to report your employment while on OPT. The One Stop can be reached at onestop@otis.edu or (310) 665-6999.
