This project investigates the relationship between form, structure, and spatial hierarchy through a minimal inhabitation program. Utilizing a rigorous geometric language, the design explores how sectional and planimetric clarity can articulate spatial experience and circulation. The interplay between solid and void is carefully calibrated to define distinct spatial zones while maintaining a sense of openness and continuity. The composition is structured around a central staircase that functions as both a spatial anchor and a mediator between levels. Strategic cutouts and framed openings punctuate the building envelope, creating moments of visual connection and allowing light to shape the interior experience. Elevational studies emphasize restraint and formal discipline, while sectional drawings reveal complex interactions between volumes and transitional spaces.

This project explores the interplay between scale, structure, and space through a modular system of interconnected volumes and circulation pathways. Anchored in the pedagogical framework of Studio I, the design emphasizes spatial sequencing, movement, and inhabitation within a structured field condition. Each volume functions as a spatial node, arranged within a grid-like framework that fosters dynamic vertical and horizontal interactions. The architectural language is defined by a rhythmic pattern of solid and void, with staircases and ramps serving as connective tissues that facilitate layered experiences of space. The sectional cuts reveal the project's commitment to volumetric balance and human scale, while the plan views highlight the precision of spatial organization and circulation flow.

Authentic tastes, traditional hookah, and a warm atmosphere combine Pakistani and Arab cultures at Layali, a lively hookah bar and restaurant in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. Layali provides a distinctive dining experience that encourages community connection with a menu that includes meals like Middle Eastern mezze, kebabs, and Pakistani biryanis. Warm tones, elaborate patterns, and luxurious textiles are all used in the design to create a cozy setting where visitors can socialize. In addition to being a restaurant, Layali serves as a cultural center where residents congregate to celebrate connection and diversity while indulging in food, music, and discussion.

The center uses the power of nature to inspire innovations that create a resilient and sustainable future for future generations by skillfully fusing research, living areas, and community involvement.

The spatial organization of Aether is carefully curated to guide users through a restorative journey—from lush, shaded courtyards to inviting communal lounges, a refined restaurant and bar, and tranquil treatment zones. Each space is thoughtfully scaled and programmed to engage the senses while promoting mindfulness and renewal. The layout is informed by topography, responding to its natural context with terraced levels that allow for seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. Central to the design is the idea of holistic well-being. Aether integrates biophilic design principles, layered lighting, and acoustically tuned spaces to support relaxation, reflection, and rejuvenation. Through a synthesis of modern luxury and elemental simplicity, Aether redefines the boundaries of interior wellness environments.
