    The college is excited to welcome all newly admitted International students! The Orientation program is your first chance to experience all that Otis College has to offer you. You’ll receive valuable information to ease your transition to campus and life in the USA as well as federal requirements to maintain your student visa status. All newly admitted International students are required to attend. Lunch will be provided!

  • Saturday, August 17 — New Student Housing Move In
    9:00AM - 3:00PM

    New students are assigned and emailed a move in appointment. Students and families start by parking in the structure then follow signs through the move in process. Students will take their Student ID photo as a part of the move in process.

  • Saturday, August 17 — New Student Housing Orientation
    5:30PM in the Forum

    All new students living in housing are required to attend the Housing Orientation beginning at 5:30. Students will meet the staff, get to know other new Otis Students, and learn the Ins and Outs of living on campus. Dinner will be served.

  • Sunday, August 18 — Family and Friends Day - Foundation and Foundation Transfer Student Orientation
    8:00AM - 5:00PM

    Family and Friends Day is a half-day experience, one morning (8:30am-1:30pm) and one afternoon session (11:30am-4:30pm). Attendees only need to register for one of the two sessions being offered (link below). Family and Friends Day is especially important for students entering college for the first time or transferring from another college and starting at Otis College as a Foundation student.

    Students and families will gain a basic understanding of the college and the Foundation year for the student. There will be an opportunity for students to meet upper division students who serve as Orientation Week Leaders and speak with various staff and faculty representing different resources at the college. You will also receive your student ID, visit vendors on campus and participate in afternoon activities that will ease your transition.

    Family and Friends are welcome to attend this event! All newly admitted Foundation and Foundation Transfer students are expected to attend. Lunch will be provided!

  • Monday, August 19 — In-Person Registration Day - Foundation and Foundation Transfer
    9:00AM - 1:00PM

    If you have not yet participated in an online registration advisement session during the summer 2019, plan to be on campus to register for class for the fall semester. The Admissions Office will notify all students who must attend this event.This is only for Foundation students and Foundation Transfer students who have not yet been advised or registered.

  • Tuesday, August 20 — Upper Division Transfer Student and Exchange Student Orientation
    8:00AM - 4:00PM

    The college recognizes that Transfer and Exchange students have already been to college and are a unique population with specific needs. This orientation day is for those students who have previously attended either a two-year or four-year institution and have been admitted to Otis College as a transfer student. You will learn about expectations, opportunities for involvement, and meet your academic Department Chairs. You will also take your student ID picture, and visit tables represented by campus departments. All newly admitted transfer and exchange students are expected to attend. Lunch will be provided!

  • Wednesday, August 21 — Welcome Ceremony (required)
    9:00AM - 10:45AM

    Otis College officially celebrates all newly admitted students at the beginning of their academic year. You will be officially welcomed during a Convocation style Welcome Ceremony, taking place in the commons area on campus. Interim President Randy Lavender will formally welcome all new students, along with Otis College faculty and staff. A light breakfast will be provided!

    There is no registration required for this event. ALL new student must arrive to the Forum at 9:00am located in the Academic Building (next door to Elaine’s Dining) to check-in, get your Commemorative T-shirt and join the pre-ceremony activities!

  • Wednesday, August 21 — O-Beach
    11:00AM - 8:30PM

    O Beach is a unique program immediately following the Welcome Ceremony and offers the chance to get to know your peers even better. There is an inspirational keynote speaker, learn about first-year issues, enjoy the beach and games, and culminate the entire experience with a bon-fire activity in the evening at Dockweiler Beach. By the end of the day we hope you have a clear sense of how your own creative talents and abilities can flourish and grow at Otis College.

    All newly admitted students are invited and strongly encouraged to attend. Lunch and Dinner will be provided!

  • Thursday, August 22 — Graduate Student Orientation
    12:00PM - 4:30PM

    Graduate Student Orientation will provide all incoming MFA students with information intended to help navigate their academic program. As an incoming graduate student, you will be able to meet students from other graduate programs and participate in advising and registration of your classes. All newly admitted MFA Students are required to attend. Lunch will be provided!

  • Thursday, August 22 — Bowl and Eat at Bowlero Westchester!
    7:00PM - 9:00PM

    Come knock down some pins and hang out with your fellow Otis Owls at the AMF Bowlero Westchester, across the street from Otis College. All bowlers will receive a free rental of bowling shoes and a spot on the lane lineup during the games. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided. Don’t forget to bring a pair of socks if you plan on bowling! All newly admitted students both graduate and undergraduate are invited and encouraged to attend.

    Please note that due to Otis being a dry campus, no alcohol will be served despite the venue having a bar. Confirm your attendance.
  • Friday, August 23 — Universal Studios Outing
    9:00AM - 8:00PM

    All newly admitted students are invited to a discounted day out to Universal Studios. It’s another opportunity for you to connect with your new peers and enjoy a great Southern California day at a major attraction. Space for this activity will be limited to the first 130 new students who sign-up, pay their $50 non-refundable ticket fee. The normal gate price for admission to the park is $149.00 so take advantage of this discount! All newly admitted students both undergraduate and graduate are invited and encouraged to attend. Meals are not provided.
