I AM GNOSIS
A solo exhibition by Gnosis

Otis College of Art and Design is proud to present I AM GNOSIS, an exhibition by MFA Fine Arts candidate Gnosis.

Our lives, our collective and individual existences are the mere dreams of higher dimensional organisms existing outside the confines of our consensus realities. Shamanic cultures throughout history have understood this and have always had an intermediary, the shaman, who traffics between the immediately perceivable reality and those that lie on the periphery of what is commonly known or accepted as fact. In I AM GNOSIS, Gnosis places himself in this archetypical role such that he seeks to bridge the gap between this world and a multiverse that is coming into greater view with the aid of technological and pop cultural interventions.

The imagination is a portal to alternative realities not yet fully realized in the present physical dimension. Some of these realities are so similar to our own that we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference while others are so alien that they operate on completely different laws of physics. This is why SpongeBob exists, this is why Minecraft exists, this is why an infinite number of combinations between those also exist. Gnosis’s practice seeks to index these alternatives whether it be through painting, drawing, video, music, sculpture, performance, or installation. Gnosis has found that AI is also capable of probing this multiverse and is able to generate portals into these realms at an expedited rate.

About the Artist

Gnosis is a multidisciplinary artist from San Diego, California. Gnosis holds a BFA in Illustration from Otis College Of Art And Design in Los Angeles. He is currently based in Los Angeles, California and will receive his MFA in Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design in the Spring of 2026. Gnosis physically lives in Los Angeles while his astral form roams the outer reaches of ideaspace.
