Sample is an experimental clothing design project that transforms discarded garments into documented, limited-run pieces. Each piece begins as a thrifted, pre-owned blank and is screen-printed by hand as one of one “samples;” a term used in fashion for test garments that are often rejected, over-produced, and thrown away before reaching consumers. By treating the sample as the final product, sample reverses the logic of fast fashion and highlights the systems of desire, production, and waste that drive modern clothing culture. The collection combines industrial graphic language, satire, and cultural reproduction to question how value is manufactured. This exhibition introduces the first release: ARCHIVE—2026—001/015Some images may be cropped. Click on an image to see the full image without cropping.

Sample displays 15 hand-thrifted & screen-printed t-shirt designs; introducing experimentation and production as one of one samples, all in their build, their print, and their meaning. It is accompanied by the Sample look-book, including a walkthrough of every shirt design, and modeling of every product.

The REJECTED shirt design is the center piece of the project. It points to the billions of fashion fabrics and textiles that get wasted, burned or placed in landfill all around the world. Representing the shirts that are imperfect, the trends that expired, and the samples that never made it.

The look-book is a systematic story-telling walkthrough of Sample. Introducing the archive 001/015 through product shots, modeling and the production sampling language that exists behind the scenes.

Continuing to represent the culture that is fashion waste; I had the rejected shirt modeled, exhibiting the burns that were left behind.

This is a scan of all the thumbnail sketches left from the sampling stages of sample. Some made it into the final show, some did not.

Representing the clothing that never made it, sample releases every item created, even with its mistakes, errors and imperfections. Those are what truly makes something unique.
