Design Lab was hired to design patterns inspired by The Huntington’s gardens and collections to be wrapped onto electric shuttles used to transport guests.
The designers began the process with a research trip to The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. They explored its gardens and collections, observing how guests interacted with the environment. They took a tour and learned about the rich history of the property and the biodiversity of its species. Each designer was drawn to a different aspect of The Huntington, so the resulting designs ranged from abstracted plant forms and minimalist color studies to realistic renderings of the koi pond and gardens. The client loves that each of the designs is so different—just like every experience at The Huntington is different. They were so happy with the outcome that they featured the shuttles in their annual donor magazine.
