The ACT Program welcomes Allegra Brown as a guest speaker in Teaching for Learning II on Wednesday, February 24, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. PST. This is open to the Otis Community.

Allegra Brown uses culturally responsive coaching, training, and facilitation to professionally develop leaders who are working toward equity. She seeks to support educators to empower students to recognize and cultivate their own thinking, ultimately equipping them to become designers of their worlds. She has expertise in Teachers’ College Readers and Writers Workshop, Cognitively Guided Instruction, Project-Based Learning, Arts Integration, and the postsecondary Design Your Life curriculum from Stanford University. She has taught in inner-city Miami, Harlem, NY, and Huntington Park, Los Angeles and currently teaches pre-service teachers at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Allegra holds a B.A. in African Studies from Columbia University and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
