Otis College Extension

In this class, participants will learn a variety of Kirigami folding and cutting methods to create symmetrical creatures to include October-themed cats, bats, and Jack-o-Lanterns. As cutting is free-hand, pencils are not necessary, although adults are welcome to take notes! When adults cut shapes with their children, it can be a wonderful experience. We hope you can create some fun creatures together!

Scissor Supervision: Child(ren) should use age-appropriate scissors. Depending upon the child’s age and cutting ability, adult supervision is essential. Thick novelty scissor cutters are not recommended. Adults are advised to supervise the creative space the child uses to ensure that it is safe and free from harmful objects. Adults are advised to be available for unexpected internet difficulties or problems using scissors. The instructor of this online class will explain Scissor Education and proper scissors usage, but adult supervision of the safe use of scissors in the home is paramount and the responsibility of the adult who is present at home.
