Please join Fine Arts and Foundation faculty Marjan Hormozi in welcoming London-based artist Andrew Stahl in a lecture focusing on the theme of “Searching for Magic.”
Andrew Stahl’s work is concerned with the symbolic, the formal, the descriptive and the expressive. He is interested in creating a complex and rich soup of different histories, discourses and traditions, contemplating the fragile, ecstatic and mystical nature and magic of the world around us. His paintings and sculptures often provide a simple structure from a distance yet as you move closer to them smaller images and details are revealed. These little items do not add up to a story, they are mind wanderings, a collection of flowing thoughts floating across the surfaces, perhaps influenced by Chinese scroll painting.
