Kai Chan Heart Broken Lab poster

Kai Chan MFA Solo Thesis Exhibition: Heart Broken Lab
January 30–February 4, 2023

"You are walking into my two-years-old, sad, love journey, from missing him to breaking up. Everyone at Otis—my peers and my faculty—became part of my therapy sessions, helping me to find myself and heal my heart. So you can see some paper works (home work), the documentary of my L.A. life, Otis school life, and my long-distance relationship far from Hong Kong. I am using black and white ink drawing to express my emotions. I explain my last unstable, uncertain, and out-of-control relationship through fragile materials, such as rice paper and ceramic.

I was processing my grief, the five stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance." —Kai Chan
