My work deals predominantly with the confrontation of memory and its relation to personhood. Memories that are blocked, blurred, twisted. Memories that haunt, fade, stain. I’m interested in the idea of how these memories burrow and the nauseatingly repetitive actions taken in order to reconcile with them. There is a dissection of self that occurs and, in turn, allows the painting to dissect itself- bleeding onto the walls mimicking not only the scene portrayed, but also the process of excavation. It is a constant push and pull of internal and external, and the distortion of the line that distinguishes such.
