The press is offering an open reading period for the month of February 2017. There is no reading fee and simultaneous submissions are allowed. For manuscript requirements and the notification timeline, visit http://www.otis.edu/mfa-writing/otis-books-seismicity-editions-submissions.

Otis Books is the publication project of the MFA Writing Program at Otis College of Art and Design. Students are involved in all aspects of the press’ activities, from selecting and editing manuscripts to designing books, managing production, and getting published titles out into the world. Faculty in the writing program include Paul Vangelisti, author of over 30 books of poetry and founder of small press Magra Books, New York Times bestselling author Marisa Silver, poet and translator Guy Bennett, whose Ce livre was recently published by Éditions de l'Attente in Bordeaux, to name a few.

The MFA Writing program also hosts a Visiting Writers Series featuring celebrated contemporary authors, poets, and essayists. Past speakers have included Pulitzer Prize winner Viet Thanh Nguyen, poet Tonya Foster and Delicious Foods author James Hannaham. The next Visiting Writers Series will feature Robin Coste Lewis, whose Voyage of the Sable Venus won the National Book Award.
