“One thing that I’ll carry with me is how supportive my fellow classmates and faculty have been in the things that I’ve wanted to do,” says Gianna Ciaramello (BFA Product Design ‘17). “Prior to coming here, I didn’t have a background in design. I actually had an interest in radiography. I have a huge interest in the human body and health. However, I decided to take a more creative route.”
Gianna channeled her commitment to wellness into creating products for ethical living: cruelty-free vegan leather boots, garments and quilts made of repurposed fabric, and a cookbook, Rabbit Food, which she successfully funded through Kickstarter.
Her book features 103 original, plant-based recipes that she wrote, designed, styled, and photographed herself. “Product design is really about bringing your dreams to a reality. Being able to transform those things into physical objects has been really inspiring and exciting to me.”
