Otis College of Art and Design is L.A.’s first independent, professional school of art. In 1918, Harrison Gray Otis, founder of the Los Angeles Times, bequeathed his estate to the County for “the advancement of the arts.”

Among its alumni are MacArthur and Guggenheim grant winners, three-time Oscar awardees, legendary costume designers, leaders of contemporary art movements, and design stars at Apple, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pixar, DreamWorks, Mattel, Nike, Disney, and more.
