The art and design communities, here in Los Angeles, as well as internationally are united by our passions and have never been more vital in creating a future we can all share. L.A. Summer Programs Expand at Otis College

Building on the success of last year's inaugural L.A. Summer Residency, the  2018 line-up features specialized programs for emerging curators, writers of color, fashion designers, L.A. art enthusiasts, and more.

Art and Activism in the Americas

The Ben Maltz Gallery at Otis College of Art and Design will present Talking to Action: Art, Pedagogy, and Activism in the Americas, an exhibition and publication that investigates contemporary, community-based social art practices in the Americas curated by Bill Kelley, Jr., with Karen Moss as consulting curator. Talking to Action, on view September 17 through December 10, 2017, is part of the Getty’s initiative Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles.

Otis College at the L.A. Art Book Fair This Weekend

Otis College of Art and Design is exhibiting at Printed Matter’s L.A. Art Book Fair 2017 this weekend, February 24 – February 26, 2017. Held at The Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the fair is a unique event for artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines presented by over 300 international presses, booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers.

Students Featured in New Otis College Campaign

As the college continues to roll-out updates to the main campus, one of the newest features provides an opportunity to spotlight artwork from the Otis College community. New banners on the campus and Lincoln Boulevard create more spaces to highlight student work. 

Assistant Chair Annetta Kapon Receives Greek Diaspora Fellowship

LOS ANGELES – Annetta Kapon, assistant chair of the graduate fine arts program at Otis College of Art and Design has been chosen for the first round in the Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program. Kapon will travel to Greece to work with professor Marios Spiliopoulos in the graduate program at the Athens School of Fine Arts. Her work will focus on curriculum development, teaching, graduate student mentoring, and strengthening international connections for graduate students and faculty.

Zeal Harris' ‘Home Remedies For Driving While Black’

Zeal Harris' ('07 MFA) new solo exhibition Home Remedies for Driving While Black addresses police violence through the lens of interpersonal relationships.

"The art is sometimes autobiographical or biographical as three of the artworks are about men that I personally knew, whose lives were lost while in police custody," says Harris. "The compositions are careful in their effort to offer anti-iconographic storytelling that puts rich human character back onto victims made into cold statistics."

Polly Apfelbaum Unveils ‘Rug-Filled Gallery’ in First Institutional Show in Los Angeles at The Ben Maltz Gallery

LOS ANGELES –The Ben Maltz Gallery at Otis College of Art and Design is pleased to present the exhibition Polly Apfelbaum: Face (Geometry) (Naked) Eyes, on view September 24 – December 4, 2016, the artist’s first solo institutional show in Los Angeles. A public opening reception takes place Saturday, September 24, 4-6pm.
