Design is a form of communication. It is a language that translates our thoughts and ideas into projections of the future – how something should or could be and the feelings we receive from it.

It is the ability to create something that serves a purpose while maintaining beauty, thoughtfulness, and joy. I strive to create familiarity in the foreign through the quality of execution –   encountering something that is so well solved and crafted, that it gives you a sense of recognition – a sense of “something just feeling right”, even if it is completely new. Thus creating an immediate bond between the user and the design that enhances the experience.

Ascension is a game designed to encourage discussing and planning for death in a fun and educational way that is targeted towards families and children of all ages. Death and how to be properly prepared for it is seldom discussed in our society.

To avoid as much anxiety and post-mortem stress as possible for those passed and their families, it is important to educate everyone on how to take the necessary steps to being prepared for the inevitable. Becoming more comfortable with the topic is essential in easing the pain and confusion of being ready for the most anticipated life event since birth.

This game format is also transferable to other transitions or processes in life that many experience but are not educated on.

Station

The year is 2087 and Mars has been populated by the human race for the last 50 years. With incredible technological and scientific developments, the red planet has become habitable to human life and a bustling metropolis is on the rise. Mars City has been developing and thriving as a hub for space exploration, scientific research and a home to the employees and their families of the space industry.

With space tourism at an all-time high, the entertainment and sports industry is clamoring to make a big improvement in the quality of life for these Mars inhabitants. By incorporating variants of terrestrial pastimes and events into the Martian lifestyle, they hope to introduce a new breed of action sports, entertainment, and leisure to society. One of the first sporting events to land on Mars comes from the world of motorsports: off-road endurance racing – a high risk, demanding sport through the toughest terrain that requires immense teamwork and determination.

Station is designed to be a pit stop for Mars endurance racing. Serving as checkpoints throughout the race, these stations allow drivers and race teams to charge up the all-electric vehicles, make any necessary repairs and rest between driver changes.
