  • What does culture mean in the context of the cultural portrait video submission?

Culture can be defined by ethnic background, beliefs, or traditions. For the cultural portrait, we want to learn more about your identity, what culture means to you, and what obstacles you may have overcome to connect with it further. For example, if you discovered that by going against the expectations of your ethnic background you realized your passion for the entertainment industry, that would fit this criteria.

  • If I graduate in June, can I still apply?

Yes. As long as you complete your requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent before the program begins in September 2023 and are at least 18 years old.

  • Do I need experience to apply?

You do not need any experience to apply. Just a passion and interest to work in the entertainment marketing industry.

  • Is priority given to California residents?

No, but you must be able to attend in-person classes on the Otis College of Art and Design campus from September 2023 to October 2024 as a full-time student, with courses throughout the day, Monday - Friday and from November 2024 to April 2025 as an apprentice, with an on-site work commitment throughout the day, Monday - Friday.

Yes, absolutely. If you are looking to change direction, you can participate. You must, however, be willing to attend this program full-time throughout its duration.

  • Is there an age requirement?

You must be at least 18 years of age. We want to provide this opportunity to anyone who meets the criteria, whether you are just starting your career journey or are coming from a completely different industry and want to make a career change.

  • Is this program virtual or in-person?

The format of the certificate program will be in-person, 14 months in-person at Otis College of Art and Design, and six months at a selected agency partner in Los Angeles in-person as a paid apprentice.

  • What will my schedule be like?

You will be a full-time student from September 2023 - October 2024. You will be required to attend day time classes in-person during that time. Once you complete that portion of the program, you will be placed at a Netflix creative agency, where you will have a 6-month, full-time, paid apprenticeship.

You are not required to select your specific track before you begin the fellowship.
